Settings
The settings you can change in the app, automation rules, firmware updates and licensing.
Settings
You configure Echo entirely from the ZeroTrace app. The settings below are the ones you will change day to day.
Device settings
| Device name | The friendly name Echo shows when pairing. Random on first start-up; change it to anything you like. |
| Default frequency | The frequency Echo starts on (433.92 MHz by default). |
| Transmit power | How strongly Echo sends when replaying a fixed-code signal. |
| Button action | What the standalone button does, send a saved signal, or learn and play. See Standalone Button. |
| Armed signal | Which saved signal the button sends. |
| Status light | How the colour status light behaves. |
| Link identity | The name and optional shared key for the Echo-to-Echo link. |
These are read and written from the same place in the app, there's no separate config file to manage, and every change takes effect immediately without a reboot.
Automation rules
Echo can run simple if-this-then-that rules you build in the app. A rule watches for something, an event, a signal strength, or a schedule, and takes an action when it happens.

Rules are managed entirely in the app, create, edit, enable and delete them as you like.
A rule that sends a saved signal refuses a rolling-code signal exactly like manual replay and the standalone button do. Automation can't be used to route around that limit.
Using Echo from a computer
Echo can also be driven from the ZeroTrace desktop app over USB-C. You turn this mode on from the app; the next time Echo restarts, it connects over the USB cable instead of Bluetooth. This is handy for longer sessions at a desk.
Firmware updates
Echo updates its own firmware over the air from the app, no cable or special tools needed. Updates are delivered safely so a unit only ever accepts its own correct firmware.
Licensing
Most capture and decode features need an active license, tied to your specific device. You activate it by scanning a QR code in the app. See Licensing.
Echo has no cloud and no account, and nothing phones home. Your settings, saved signals and license all live on the device, and all control is over Bluetooth LE or USB.
