A direct radio link between two Echo units, experimental and not yet field-tested.
Echo-to-Echo Link
Two Echo units can talk to each other directly over their sub-GHz radios, for short messages, find-my beacons and homing, away from any phone or network.
This link has been built and checked in software but has never been tested between two real units. Treat everything on this page as intended behaviour rather than proven behaviour, and expect to shake out issues before relying on it.
What it is
Despite the "mesh" name, this is a direct link between two units, not a routed multi-hop network.

Finding another Echo
The link includes a find-my beacon and signal-strength homing, one Echo beacons and the other reports how strong the signal is, so you can walk toward it.
Echo's automation rules can send a link message as an action, for example beaconing when something happens.
