ZeroTrace Echo

Installation

Charge, power on and pair the ZeroTrace Echo with the mobile app.

Installation

Echo ships pre-flashed and ready. Getting started means fitting a battery (or running from USB), pairing over Bluetooth LE, and activating your license.

  1. Fit a battery (optional)

Echo has no cell in the box. Connect a single Li-ion / LiPo cell to the battery connector, or simply run the device from USB-C while you set up. On-board USB-C charging tops the cell up; the dedicated red and green lights show charge state.

  2. Power on

Echo powers up as soon as it has power. The colour status light shows its state. On first start-up Echo gives itself a friendly one-word name, which you can change later in the app.

  3. Install the ZeroTrace app

Install the ZeroTrace mobile app. Echo is controlled over Bluetooth LE, there is no web page and no pairing PIN.

  4. Pair over Bluetooth LE

Open the app and scan. Echo appears in the list under its friendly name, select it to connect. The app recognises Echo automatically.

  5. Activate your license

Most capture and decode features need an active license. Scan your license QR code in the app; Echo stores and checks it, then unlocks the licensed features. See Licensing.

Once connected you are ready for your first capture.

Using Echo from a computer

Echo can also be driven from the ZeroTrace desktop app over a USB-C connection, useful for longer analysis sessions at a desk. You enable this mode from the app. See Settings.
