Echo-to-Echo Link
A direct radio link between two Echo units, experimental and not yet field-tested.

Two Echo units can talk to each other directly over their sub-GHz radios, for short messages, find-my beacons and homing, away from any phone or network.
What it is
Despite the "mesh" name, this is a direct link between two units, not a routed multi-hop network.

- Short-range, line-of-sight over the sub-GHz band

- Listens before sending and retries if a message is not acknowledged
- Discovery
- Finds nearby Echo units automatically (up to 16)
- Security
- Optional shared key that proves messages are genuine and untampered (it does not encrypt the contents); off by default
- Naming
- Each unit uses a name you set, or one derived from its device name
Finding another Echo
The link includes a find-my beacon and signal-strength homing, one Echo beacons and the other reports how strong the signal is, so you can walk toward it.
