ZeroTrace Mobile

FAQ

Common questions about ZeroTrace Mobile, supported devices, the desktop app, licensing, privacy, and connection problems.

Which devices work with the app?

ZeroTrace Mobile controls ZeroTrace HID and ZeroTrace AirLeak devices over Bluetooth. BLELogger is not paired through the app, it uses the desktop Companion and its built-in Web UI. See Supported devices.

Do I still need the desktop app?

For HID and AirLeak, no, ZeroTrace Mobile is the primary way to use them, and the desktop Companion no longer manages those devices. You still use the desktop Companion for BLELogger.

Is there an account or subscription?

No. There is no account and no login, the hardware license is your credential, and it is a one-time activation per device. The app sends no telemetry.

Where do I get the app?

iOS from the App Store; Android as a direct APK from GitHub Releases. See Installation.

I activated on one phone, do I lose the license if I switch phones?

No. The license is written to the device's own flash, not the phone. Delete the app, switch phones, or re-pair, the device stays licensed. See Activation.

My device will not connect.

Open the in-app Troubleshoot flow: it checks Bluetooth, re-scans to confirm the device is advertising, and offers a clean re-pair that keeps the license. See Connection & staying online.

Why does Android ask for Location?

Android ties Bluetooth scanning to the Location permission, and the Drive wardrive map records a GPS track. Location is used on-device only. See Installation → Permissions.

Does my capture data leave the phone?

Only if you choose to. Pairings, logs, scripts, and captures live on the phone. The single exception is a wardrive session you explicitly upload to WiGLE or WDGoWars using your own account key. See Privacy and data.

Can I control more than one device at once?

Yes. The home screen lists every paired device, the active one is prioritized on the radio, and the Executor can broadcast one script to a whole fleet. Link devices into the TraceNet mesh to see them all on one screen.

Authorized use only

Use ZeroTrace hardware and ZeroTrace Mobile only on devices and networks you own or are explicitly permitted to test. The app requires you to confirm authorized use on first launch.
