ZeroTrace Mobile

Connection & staying online

How ZeroTrace Mobile keeps devices connected, prioritizes the active one, and recovers when something will not connect.

Staying connected is handled for you. Every paired device runs its own small state machine and recovers from dropped links on its own, so your live capture or your keystrokes never stutter.

Connection states

Each device reports one of three states, shown as a live status dot:

StateMeaning
ConnectingThe app is opening a link to the device.
ReconnectingThe link dropped and the app is bringing it back.
ConnectedThe device is online and ready (live dot).

How reconnect behaves

  • Automatic retry with backoff. A dropped link is retried automatically on an exponential backoff curve, so the app never hammers the radio.
  • The active device is prioritized. Whichever device you are actually looking at gets the radio's full attention while the others politely stand down. That is why running a payload or watching a live AirLeak stream stays smooth even when several devices are trying to reconnect at once.
  • Reconnect on open. Opening the home screen fires a reconnect at anything that has dropped.

You can also force a full refresh: pull down on the home screen to re-scan, or use Reconnect all in Settings → Maintenance.

Troubleshoot

When something will not connect, the in-app Troubleshoot flow walks you through it instead of leaving you guessing:

  1. Confirms Bluetooth is on.
  2. Re-scans to prove the device is actually advertising.
  3. Offers a clean re-pair that resets the phone-side bond without touching the device's license.

If you still need help, it bundles a redacted diagnostic to send to support, every identifier and secret stripped first, so you are never handing over anything sensitive.

Most connection problems

The usual fixes, in order: make sure Bluetooth is on, that the device is powered and in range, then try a clean re-pair from Troubleshoot. A clean re-pair never removes the device's license.
