App Lock & Biometrics

Lock the app behind Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint, and gate destructive actions.

App lock

The app can be locked behind your phone's biometrics, Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. With app lock on, the app requires your face or fingerprint to open, so a device left unlocked on a table does not expose your captures, routes and device controls.

Turn app lock on in Settings. It uses your phone's own biometric system, the app never sees or stores your biometric data.

Protecting destructive actions

Beyond unlocking the app, biometrics also gate destructive actions on your devices, the kind of operations you would not want triggered by accident or by someone who picked up your phone. When you invoke one, reboot, format, or a HID self-destruct, the app asks for your face or fingerprint before it goes ahead, a second confirmation on top of unlocking the app itself.

Not every family exposes the same destructive actions from the app, see each device guide for which are available, but any that are present go through this same biometric gate.

Recommended

If you carry devices in the field, turn app lock on. It is the single fastest way to make sure a lost or borrowed phone does not become a way into your gear.

If biometrics are unavailable

App lock relies on your phone having biometrics set up. If your phone falls back to a passcode, the app follows your phone's own authentication.
