How it works
The inline design in plain terms — two USB ports, a live web view, and on-device processing.
The USBLogger has two USB-A ports and sits in the path between a keyboard and a computer.
- One port is a USB-A plug that goes into the computer.
- One port is a USB-A socket that the keyboard plugs into.
While the keyboard is in use, the device records the keystrokes and makes them available to review. You read them live from a web page the device serves over its own Wi-Fi — you connect a phone or laptop to the USBLogger's Wi-Fi and open the page in a normal browser.
Where the recording lives
Captured keystrokes are held in the device's memory and presented in the live view. The USBLogger is designed for live review during a session, not as a long-term archive — if you need a record, copy what you need from the live view while the session is running. See Live view.
On-device processing
Two things happen on the device before you see the text:
- Layout handling. The raw signals a keyboard sends are turned into readable characters using the keyboard layout you select, so the text matches what was actually typed. See Keymaps & locales.
- Flagging. Lines that match your keywords or patterns are highlighted so they are easy to find. See Keyword & pattern flagging.
The live view is served directly by the device over Wi-Fi and is protected by your license. Nothing is uploaded to a ZeroTrace server or a third party.
