ZeroTrace Desktop
Installation
Download ZeroTrace Desktop, install it on your computer, and open it for the first time.
Installation
ZeroTrace Desktop is a native application for the desktop, Windows, macOS, and Linux. You install it once, and it runs without a browser or an account.
- Download the installer for your system
Get the build for your operating system from ZeroTrace. Windows and macOS ship as a standard installer for their platform; Linux ships as a standard package. Pick the one that matches your computer.
- Install it
Run the installer and follow the prompts, the same as any other desktop application. Desktop does not need administrator rights to run day to day.
- Open Desktop
Launch the app. It opens to a single, full-screen workspace with its own dark theme. There is no sign-up and no login, Desktop is ready the moment it opens.
- Connect a device
Plug a ZeroTrace device into a USB port with a cable. Desktop recognizes it and switches its layout to match. See Connecting devices.
Desktop does not ask you to sign in, enter a key, or activate the app. It opens ready to use. This is different from the ZeroTrace software tools (OSINT and Proxy), which are licensed, and from the mobile app, where some device features unlock with a license. See Licensing for how the rest of the line handles activation.
Desktop is updated as new versions are released. Install a new version the same way you installed the first one, your saved apps and settings stay on your machine and carry over.
