Privacy
ZeroTrace OSINT is local-first by design. Your investigations run on your computer, your cases live on your computer, and the credentials you add stay on your computer. The workbench does not gather your work in the cloud or route it through a service of ours.
Your work stays local
Cases, findings, and dossiers are stored on your machine. When you export a report, you are writing a file locally, the app does not upload your case anywhere. The only data that leaves your computer is what a network tool sends when you run it, and OSINT labels every tool so you know in advance whether it reaches out or stays local. See the Tools overview.
Secrets stored securely
Some tools need your own account keys to talk to a service. OSINT stores those secrets in your operating system's secure credential store, the same protected place your system keeps other application secrets, rather than in a plain file you could leak by accident. On systems without a system credential store available, it falls back to keeping them in an encrypted file. Either way, your keys are protected at rest and never travel except to the service they belong to.
You can run a whole investigation, build a case, and produce a dossier without any of it leaving your machine, except the specific, labeled network lookups you choose to run.
Local-first protects your data; it does not change your responsibilities. Only investigate what you are authorized to, and handle the results, especially personal data, lawfully and carefully.
