Swarm
Swarm is an optional capability. A single AirLeak hears everything within Bluetooth range of where it sits, which is plenty for carrying with you. But if you want to cover a wider area, a whole room, a floor, or several doorways at once, Swarm lets one AirLeak act as a hub that gathers reports from additional ZeroTrace scout nodes placed around the space.
What it adds
- More coverage from one dashboard. Each scout node listens in its own spot and passes what it hears back to your AirLeak, which merges everything into the single picture you already see in the app. You do not manage several devices, you watch one.
- Better follow-me confidence over distance. With scouts spread out, a tracker moving through the covered area is seen from more than one vantage point, which makes a genuine follower stand out more clearly than a single fixed listening point could show on its own.
- Fixed-place monitoring. Swarm suits watching a location, an entrance, a car park, a venue, rather than only what is in your pocket. Leave your AirLeak as the hub in one spot, with scouts covering the approaches, and check the app for the combined picture.
How it fits together
Your AirLeak remains the brain of the setup: it is the only thing your phone pairs with, the only thing you configure, and the only device that runs the full device-intelligence and follow-me pipeline described elsewhere in these docs. Scout nodes do the listening at their own position and report what they hear back to the hub wirelessly; the hub folds those reports into the same device list and the same follow-me evaluation it already runs for its own local hearing, so a tracker first seen by a scout and later carried past the hub itself is recognized as one continuous sighting, not two separate ones.
What you need
The scout nodes are separate ZeroTrace scanning nodes, not extra AirLeak licenses, and they are optional add-ons to a working AirLeak. Add as many as the area calls for; each one only extends where your AirLeak can hear, it does not change what a single AirLeak already does on its own.
Swarm changes nothing about how a standalone AirLeak works, it is purely an extension. If you never add scout nodes, AirLeak is complete on its own. Add them when you want to cover more ground than one device can reach.
The scout scanning nodes are their own ZeroTrace hardware. Swarm is the capability in AirLeak that lets it collect from them, you provide the nodes you want to deploy. Check the ZeroTrace store for the current scout-node hardware.
