Getting Started

Pairing the App

The general flow for installing the ZeroTrace mobile app and connecting your first device over Bluetooth.

Pairing the App

Most ZeroTrace devices are driven from the ZeroTrace mobile app over Bluetooth Low Energy. The steps below are the same for every Bluetooth device, Echo, AirLeak, AirLeak Pro and AirLeak Mini. The app recognises which one you have and shows the right controls automatically.

  1. Install the app

Install the ZeroTrace app from the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for.

  2. Turn your device on

Power on your ZeroTrace device and keep it within a metre or so of your phone for the first connection. Charge it first if it is a battery device fresh out of the box.

  3. Enable Bluetooth

Make sure Bluetooth is switched on for your phone, and allow the app the Bluetooth permission it asks for the first time you open it. The app connects directly to the device; it does not use the internet or a cloud service to reach it.

  4. Let the app auto-detect

Open the app and let it scan. It will find nearby ZeroTrace devices, identify which one it is, and offer to connect. Select your device to pair.

  5. Activate if prompted

Some capabilities are unlocked with a license. If the app prompts you, follow Licensing & activation to activate. You can explore the basics without a license first.

  6. Start working

Once connected, the app opens the right screen for your device. From here, follow your device's own section for what to do next.

Device-specific steps

Each device section has its own installation page with any extra steps, for example, AirLeak and the HID line involve flashing firmware first. See the mobile app section for the full app reference, including pairing and auto-detect across all four device families.
