How ZeroTrace Proxy keeps your proxy lists, saved chains, and results on your own machine, and what does and does not leave your computer.
Privacy
ZeroTrace Proxy is local-first by design. Your proxy lists, your pools, your saved chains and rotators, and your results all live on your computer. The workbench does not gather your work in the cloud or route it through a service of ours.
Your work stays local
Everything you build stays on your machine. The local proxy servers the Chain Engine and Rotation Engine run are bound to your own computer — they are reachable only from your machine and are never exposed to the network.
The data that does leave your computer is the traffic you deliberately send:
- The proxy tests and lookups you run — checking, benchmarking, leak-testing, geo-enrichment, and fetching through a proxy in the Viewer — reach out to their targets, because testing a proxy means using it.
- Traffic you route through a running chain or rotator, which is the whole point of that endpoint.
- A Discord report, only if you have configured Discord delivery and chosen to send one.
Stored securely
Where Proxy needs to keep a secret for you, it stores it in your operating system's secure credential store — the same protected place your system keeps other application secrets — rather than in a plain file you could leak by accident. On systems without one available, it falls back to an encrypted file. Either way, secrets are protected at rest.
You can clean, check, grade, chain, and rotate a whole proxy list without any of it leaving your machine, except the specific proxy traffic you choose to send and any Discord report you opt to deliver.
Local-first protects your data; it does not change your responsibilities. Only route traffic through infrastructure you are authorized to use, and stay within the law and your engagement's scope.
