ZeroTrace Proxy
Licensing
How ZeroTrace Proxy is licensed, how activation works, and how it behaves offline.
Licensing
ZeroTrace Proxy is a licensed product. Its tools unlock once you activate the app with your license. Activation ties your license to the machine you are using, so your license is yours and stays with your workbench.
A Proxy license is its own license. It unlocks Proxy specifically, and it is separate from an OSINT license even though the two apps share a shell.
Activating
The first time you open Proxy, you activate it with your license. Once activated, the workbench remembers it, and you can get straight to work each time you open the app.
License states
Your license can be in one of a few states, and Proxy tells you which one applies:
- Active — your license is valid on this machine and the tools are available.
- Invalid or expired — the license could not be verified or has run out; renew or re-activate to continue.
- Wrong machine — the license is tied to a different computer.
- Temporarily unavailable — the licensing service could not be reached right now, or you have made too many checks in a short time; try again shortly.
- Update required — a newer version of the app is needed before this license will verify.
What the license unlocks
Activation also unlocks Proxy's licensed proxy sources — curated sources the Extract tool can pull from as "Cloud sources." These come with your license; see Parse, check & extract.
If Proxy cannot confirm your license, it holds the tools closed rather than opening them by mistake. This keeps a licensed workbench licensed.
ZeroTrace uses the same activation model for its licensed software. For the full picture, including how a license is tied to a machine and how transfers work, see the Licensing & Activation section.
