Getting Started
Fit a LiPo battery and a memory card, charge, power on, and pair the AirLeak Mini with the ZeroTrace mobile app.
Getting started
The Mini ships ready to run. You supply a battery and a memory card, then pair with the app, exactly as you would with the Pro. The only setup difference is the battery: the Mini takes a compact LiPo pack on a JST connector, not an 18650 cell.
A 3.7 V LiPo pack with a matching JST plug for power, and a microSD card for logging. Both are user-supplied. See Hardware differences for the battery details.
- Fit the battery and card
Plug a charged LiPo pack into the on-board JST connector, minding the polarity. Slide a microSD card into the slot until it clicks. Both are optional to power on, but you will want the battery for untethered use and a card for logging.
- Charge over USB-C
Connect the USB-C port to any standard charger or computer. The Mini charges the LiPo on-board and can run while charging. The status light shows charging and ready states.
- Power on
Move the slide switch to the on position. The status light comes up to show the device is running and advertising over Bluetooth.
- Pair with the ZeroTrace app
Open the ZeroTrace mobile app, scan for devices, and select your AirLeak Mini. Because the Mini runs the AirLeak Pro firmware, the app recognizes it and opens the AirLeak controls automatically. See Pairing the app.
- Start capturing
With the device paired, start a scan from the app. Access points and Bluetooth devices begin to populate. Captures are logged without location fixes, since the Mini has no GPS. Continue with What carries over for the full capability guides.
The Mini updates itself through the app over Bluetooth, the same as the Pro. You do not need a cable or a computer for updates. USB-C is only needed for charging or a first-time factory flash.
