Using the desktop app
Hand Echo to the ZeroTrace desktop app over USB with developer mode, and how to return it to phone control.
Echo is normally driven from the phone app over Bluetooth. To drive it from the ZeroTrace desktop app over USB — for the larger operations views, scripting and the full command surface — hand the device over by switching it into developer mode from the phone app.
Switch into developer mode
Open Echo in the app
Pair and open your Echo in the ZeroTrace mobile app.
Open the device's Settings
Go to the Echo Settings screen.
Scroll to the Developer section
Scroll to the bottom of Settings. The last section is Developer.
Tap “Serial / developer mode” and confirm
Tap Serial / developer mode. Read the confirmation — the app disconnects and any running detectors stop — and confirm.
Connect it to your computer
Echo reboots into USB serial mode and the phone disconnects (expected). Connect it to your computer over USB and open the ZeroTrace desktop app — see Desktop → Connecting devices.
Return it to phone control
In the desktop app, end developer mode. Echo reboots back into Bluetooth mode and the phone app can pair with it again.
