This section explains how licensing works across the entire ZeroTrace line, hardware devices, firmware, and the desktop software tools, in one place. Each product also documents its own activation steps on its own page; this is the shared model they all follow.
The promise
You buy a ZeroTrace product once and it is yours. Licensing does not rent you the hardware or the software, and it does not expire on a billing cycle. What a license does is unlock the full feature set of the software and firmware you already own.
What licensing covers
- Hardware devices (HID, AirLeak, AirLeak Pro, Echo, USBLogger) power on and do the basics without a license. A license unlocks the advanced capture, decode, and operations features. You activate them through the mobile app.
- Desktop software (the OSINT and Proxy suites) is licensed software. You activate it once inside the app, and it stays activated on that machine.
- ZeroTrace Desktop is the exception: it currently has no licensing gate and opens ready to use, no key required.
The shape of it
Everything about ZeroTrace licensing follows from one design choice: the check runs locally, on your own device or computer, not against an account you have to stay signed in to. That is what makes the rest true, no subscription, offline operation, and nothing about your usage sent back to us.
