Licensing

ZeroTrace HID features are unlocked by a license tied to your specific device. Activation is a one-time step you do in the app.

Activating#

Scan your license QR code in the ZeroTrace app. The device stores the license and checks it, and from then on the licensed features are available. Activation is bound to the individual device, so a license belongs to the hardware it was activated on. See the Licensing section for account-level details, transfers and the FAQ.

What runs without a license#

The device still powers on, pairs and is discoverable without a license, an unlicensed device is not a brick. Basic operation works; the license gates the features that require it. If a stored license is somehow rejected at start-up, the device keeps the key and boots unlicensed rather than discarding it, so a momentary glitch cannot cost you a valid license.
